Tips for Keeping Cool!

My favourite time of year has to be autumn. I love the colours and the breezes and 2 of my favourite things happen. Halloween and our wedding, which also magically falls on the 31st October 🎃 Don't get me wrong I love summer but, well, it's too god damn hot sometimes. So here are a few tips for you and your mini tornados to help keep you cool and hopefully waking up without drowning in a pool of sweat! 1. Grab a cuddly toy or pillowcase and pop it in a zip lock bag and pop that bag in your freezer. About 10-15 minutes before bedtime take your cuddly toy or pillowcase out of the freezer and pop it in your bed! This tip is one i swear by!

.Grab a towel and soak it in cold water. Pop the towel in the freezer for about 30 mins. When it's cool enough and still flexible lol hang it from the open window you want to cool. The air circulating will flow over the towel and bring in a nice amount of cool air!

.If you can close the curtains in your child's bedroom. This will help keep the room cooler and ready for bedtime. I swear by our blackout blind! It really helps keep the room cool on hot summer days.

.Have a cooler shower or bath before bed. Im not talking ice bath though 😂

.Cotton is a great sweat absorbing fabric. So try to find some cotton pyjamas to help keep you cool.

.The next tip relates to my last tip. Cotton sheets will help keep your bed cooler and absorb those night sweats.

.Another bed tip incoming! Try to find a duvet with a low tog rating. The higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet, with 2.5 – 7 tog perfect for spring and summer and 10.5 – 13.5 ideal for autumn and winter. A 4.5 tog duvet is an ideal tog rating for a summer duvet.

.Make up some ice pops with just water. Just before bedtime give one to your tiny tornado (or yourself) to suck on while you do your bedtime story. This helps cool you down and makes them and you less fidgety 😊 it also helps keep you and them hydrated.

.Grab an old clean sock and fill it with rice. Tie the end up and pop it in the freezer. Boom, handy moldable and flexible ice/cool pack. So there they are my trusty tips for keeping cool and sane during those hot nights! Keep cool The Unicorn Mummy
